The Battlefield series is going through very difficult times. The fifth installment, released in 2018, was criticized by gamers and journalists upon release. Users criticized the game for the small number of maps and weapons, as well as for the short single-player campaign with a large number of historical inaccuracies. But still, the fifth installment cannot be called an outright failure. The game sold well and over time the developers filled the online mode with content, which greatly improved the ratings and reviews of gamers. However, for Electronic Arts, the fifth installment turned out to be rather unsuccessful, since significantly fewer people played it than in previous projects in the series.
To win back the audience and take the franchise to a new level, the developers decided to move away from the setting of world wars. In Battlefield 2042, players were presented with a world of the near future. The main feature of the new product was large maps with an increased number of players up to 128 people (previously there were 64), as well as a new system of operatives instead of the usual division into classes (assault, medic, engineer and scout).
Gamers and journalists really disliked the listed innovations, and the game began to be criticized. The situation was aggravated by the very poor technical condition of the new product upon release and the empty maps with few shelters, buildings and points of interest. Over time, Battlefield 2042 was finalized, but this did not help the game. Its online still remained very low compared to previous projects in the series.
After the second failure in a row, the Electronic Arts leadership decided what to do with the franchise: freeze it or give the series one last chance. The leadership chose the second option. Battlefield 6 is currently in development, and its creation is headed by Vince Zampella, an outstanding game designer who founded such popular game franchises as Call of Duty, Medal of Honor and Titanfall. This fact gives gamers hope for a successful revival of the series, but there is another one - the announcement of Battlefield Labs.
HYPERPC Computer for Battlefield 6 – February
2025
Battlefield 6 will be a real stress test for gaming computers. The game will require a powerful processor and video card, as well as a large amount of RAM. However, with a HYPERPC computer, this will not be a problem, since our PCs are made on the basis of advanced and high-performance components. With a HYPERPC computer, you can fully enjoy Battlefield 6 and not worry about the game's system requirements.
In February 2025, Electronic Arts announced Battlefield Labs - a platform for large-scale testing of future games in the series, in which not professional QA engineers, but ordinary gamers take part. According to the creators, this platform allows developers to interact more closely with the community in order to avoid the mistakes of previous installments of the series and make games better.
Key Features of Battlefield Labs:
Access to early developments. Gamers will be able to test new features, maps, modes, weapons and other elements of the game even before the official release.
Close interaction with the community. Battlefield Labs will allow developers to collect feedback and quickly make changes to the game based on player feedback.
Open platform for experiments. Developers will be able to test not only new modes, mechanics, AI, but also other elements. Some ideas from tests may appear in future updates to the main game.
Given that the development of Battlefield 6 is headed by Vince Zampella, as well as the launch of the Battlefield Labs platform, there is a fairly high chance of a successful revival of the series. Next, we will tell you everything that is known about Battlefield 6 at the moment, and talk about its possible system requirements on PC.
What is Known About Battlefield 6
There is very little official information. We will tell you everything that is known, including rumors from professional journalists and leaks from insiders.
Development Studios
The development of the Battlefield series has always been led by the Swedish studio DICE. Sometimes they were helped by other Electronic Arts teams, but only as support. The main work was always done by the Swedes. However, today everything has changed. DICE cannot independently pull all the development, since many developers have left its ranks, including such veterans as Johan Andersson (technical director of the Frostbite engine), Lars Gustavsson (creative director), Patrick Soderlund (chief manager) and many others. Currently, four studios are working on Battlefield 6 at once:
DICE. Engaged in the main online modes.
Motive Studio. Engaged in maps and their content.
Criterion Games. Engaged in a story-driven single-player campaign.
Ripple Effect Studios. Engaged in support and, according to rumors, the development of "Battle Royale".
These four companies are united into one organization - Battlefield Studios, and the main decisions on the game are made by Vince Zampella.
Single-Player Campaign
Battlefield 6 will have a single-player campaign. Its events will unfold between 2027 and 2030, and the plot will tell about the conflict between NATO and private military organizations. Unfortunately, there is no more detailed information, including the timing of the game. The single-player campaign is being developed by Criterion Games, which previously worked on the Need for Speed series. Their latest project is Need for Speed Unbound.
Features of Destructibility
Destructibility is the most recognizable mechanic of the Battlefield series. In recent installments, it has been greatly reduced, but in Battlefield 6 it should reach a new level. It is expected that players will be able to destroy many buildings and objects, and some locations can be completely destroyed. Damage to buildings will depend on the caliber of firearms, just like in Rainbow Six Siege. Destructibility will be one of the key mechanics of the new part of Battlefield.
Modes, Mechanics and Weapons
Portal mode will remain. In Battlefield 2042, the developers introduced Portal mode - a constructor in which players could independently create modes, maps, weapons and equipment. Gamers really liked this feature and the developers will transfer it to Battlefield 6.
Returning 64 players in a match. In Battlefield 2042, the number of players in a match was 128 people. The lack of real people was compensated by bots, whose AI was very bad. In Battlefield 6, the number of players in a match will decrease to 64 people.
Returning to the class system. The developers will abandon the operative system, which was presented in Battlefield 2042. The class system, which is familiar to the series, will return to its place. Players will be able to choose between four classes: assault, medic, support (engineer with a machine gun) and scout (sniper).
"Conquest" and "Breakthrough" modes are confirmed. Conquest is a classic mode for the series, in which players capture and hold points. Breakthrough first appeared in Battlefield 5. In it, players are divided into two sides: one attacks and the other defends. The attacking side must capture the positions of the defending side, after which the front shifts. This is repeated until the attackers' points run out or the defending side loses all its positions.
45 types of weapons and 10 multiplayer maps are expected at release. This is more than in previous projects in the series. For example, Battlefield 5 had 8 maps for online modes and 37 types of weapons at the start, and Battlefield 2042 had only 7 maps and 22 types of weapons.
Battlefield 6: System Requirements
The official system requirements for Battlefield 6 have not yet been presented. But, having announced the Battlefield Labs platform, the developers said what PC is needed for testing. Most likely, these same system requirements will be for the release version of Battlefield 6.
