For several years now, Sony has been releasing its exclusives on PC. In September of this year, God of War: Ragnarök became available to PC gamers — one of the largest, most expensive, and highly rated projects from the publisher.

Storyline
God of War: Ragnarök is a direct sequel to the 2018 God of War. At the end of the first game, Kratos and Atreus trigger Ragnarök — the end of the world, which, according to myth, will destroy the gods and all life. The main characters spend a long winter in hiding, but they are tracked down by Thor. Kratos confronts him, and thus their new adventure begins. It sends the heroes across all the magical realms of Norse mythology.
Gameplay
God of War: Ragnarök is a third-person slasher, with combat as the core gameplay mechanic, meaning players will engage in plenty of battles. The game also features various other activities, such as exploring locations, finding new armor, solving puzzles, and leveling up characters.
The gameplay closely resembles the first game, but there are some significant changes:
- An improved combat system.
- A wide range of new enemy types.
- The ability to take on additional quests.
Additionally, the length of the game has greatly increased. The first part could be completed in 20-30 hours, but Ragnarök takes 50-70 hours. With many side quests and vast locations, fully completing the game and exploring every corner will take considerable time. God of War: Ragnarök is perfect for gamers who enjoy big, lengthy games.
Improved Combat System
Kratos has gained a few extra weapons, making combat more varied. He has also learned to use magic, allowing him to freeze enemies or set them on fire for extra damage.
Atreus, having matured, has become much stronger and more useful in battle. He can now shoot arrows with magical effects and summon spirits for support, which is particularly helpful in fights with large numbers of enemies.
The upgrade system has also changed. Developers have added many new skills and special moves that can be combined to create various combos. However, the number of perks is relatively small, ensuring that the combat system remains approachable and not overly complex. New skills are unlocked gradually throughout the game, so players won’t feel overwhelmed.
A Variety of New Enemies
Since the game is much longer, there are also more locations. Players will visit entirely new places, as well as some familiar from the first game.
Along with new locations comes a large number of new enemies. There are many new types of foes in God of War: Ragnarök, each with unique abilities and weaknesses to specific magical effects or weapons. Players will need to study their enemies and figure out the best ways to defeat them.
Optional Side Quests
In God of War: Ragnarök, players can take on optional side quests, much like in modern action RPGs. There are plenty of additional missions, and many of them are excellently crafted. These quests will send players on new adventures, as well-done as those in The Witcher 3.
System Requirements for God of War: Ragnarök
God of War: Ragnarök was released on both next-gen and older consoles, so some might think the game isn’t very cutting-edge technically. However, this is far from the truth.
The quality of the geometry, the detailing of the locations, and the lighting are all superb. Of course, God of War: Ragnarök may not look as advanced as Black Myth: Wukong or Alan Wake 2, but even by modern standards, the game looks impressive. At the same time, its system requirements are quite modest.
