Dead Space is a remake of the legendary horror game set in a science fiction setting. The development is being led by the young but ambitious studio Motive, known for their successful space simulator Star Wars: Squadrons. In the remake, players can expect a new journey on the Ishimura, but now with an updated version of the Frostbite engine. Improved combat system, updated mechanics, cutting-edge graphics - all of this awaits players in the new "Dead Space".
Game Plot
By the 25th century, humanity on Earth has depleted its natural resources. People are forced to search for valuable minerals on other planets. To accomplish this, humanity invents planet-crackers - massive ships that mine resources throughout space. One such shuttle is the Ishimura. Its crew's main task is to travel to the planet Aegis VII for mining operations. After the ship arrives at its destination, communication with it is lost. Some time later, the Ishimura sends out an SOS signal.
A small repair ship called the "Kellion" responds to the distress call. The main character, Isaac Clarke, is a private engineer and a member of the Kellion's crew. His beloved is serving on the Ishimura, so he volunteers for the rescue mission. As the Kellion approaches the docking bay, it crashes. The crew manages to survive, but they are immediately attacked by monsters. Realizing the horror of the situation, the survivors decide to escape from the Ishimura. To do this, they need to find an undamaged escape ship and launch it. However, this can only be done in the depths of the Ishimura. Therefore, the main character will once again have to confront the terrifying creatures.

Gameplay
Like the original, Dead Space Remake is a third-person corridor shooter. The Ishimura is a mining ship, and there is no military-grade weaponry on board (except for one pulse rifle). To fight the monsters, players will have to use only engineering tools: plasma cutters, power guns, flamethrowers, cutters, and more. In addition to weapons, Isaac will have access to stasis and kinesis modules. The stasis module temporarily freezes monsters, and the kinesis module allows objects to be thrown. In addition to the old mechanics, developers will add new gameplay elements to enhance the game.
Semi-open world
The main difference between the remake and the original is the ability to freely explore. The Ishimura will not be divided into levels with loading screens. Players can revisit previously explored locations at any time. To make the journey through the ship even more interesting, developers will add new areas for exploration. These areas will contain additional containers with resources and ammunition, which will help improve equipment and aid in the completion of key story missions. However, repeated travel through explored locations may become tedious. To solve this problem, developers will implement a new enemy spawn system.
Dynamic enemy spawn system
In story locations, enemies are placed using scripts, manually by the developers. However, in additional and previously visited locations, a dynamic enemy spawn system will be implemented. The game will autonomously spawn enemies to generate random events. This technology will keep players engaged and in a continuous state of tension, which is a trademark of the Dead Space series.
Improved upgrade system
The main change is the addition of an alternative shooting mode. For example, the pulse rifle can be equipped with a grenade module, allowing players to throw mines towards enemies that detonate when necromorphs approach.
New dismemberment system
Just like in the original, the best way to defeat an enemy is to shoot off their limbs. However, this mechanic will be further improved in the remake. The key changes include enhanced detail and increased contact points.
Thanks to improved detailing, players will be able to see all the stages of dismemberment of necromorphs. For example, the first shots will not instantly sever limbs. First, the monster's skin will be peeled off. Then the flesh will start to tear away. And only then will the bone be exposed, with a shot to it severing the limb. Also, thanks to detailed work, it will be possible to dismember infectors - monsters that turn human corpses into necromorphs. In the original game, shots to these mutants did not sever their limbs, but this will be corrected in the remake.
The increased number of contact points will allow the cutting off of body parts not only in joint areas. This innovation will make it possible to dismember wherever the player shoots. The original Dead Space allowed for shooting off limbs only in tendon zones (movable bone connections). In the remake, body parts will be severed wherever you hit.
