Best Co-op Games on PC in 2026

Two-player co-op in Split Fiction

A good co-op game relies not on graphics, but on how much it makes players depend on each other. Below is a selection of games worth playing with friends in 2026, from strictly two-player titles to sandboxes for large groups, with player counts and the hardware each game needs.

The selection is divided by group size, because that determines the choice more often than genre does.

Best Two-Player Games

Split Fiction. Hazelight's 2025 title from the creators of It Takes Two. It can only be played as a duo, every level changes the mechanics, and teamwork is built into every puzzle. The second player only needs a free pass, so both players do not have to buy the game, which is a rare and very convenient solution.

It Takes Two. The predecessor to Split Fiction and still one of the best two-player games. The mechanics change constantly, and no level repeats the previous one. Hardware requirements are modest, so it runs fine even on a laptop.

Best Three-Player Games

Elden Ring Nightreign. A 2025 co-op spin-off of Elden Ring for three players. Short runs across a shrinking map, boss fights, and a shared choice of route. A good fit for those who like souls-likes but want to play with friends. More on the genre can be found in our selection of the best souls-like games on PC.

Best Games for Groups of up to Four

Helldivers 2. A co-op shooter about defending democracy on distant planets. Friendly fire is always on, so coordination matters more than accuracy. The game regularly receives major updates and remains one of the most popular co-op titles.

Deep Rock Galactic. Space dwarf miners in procedurally generated caves. Four classes with clear roles; the game barely loads the hardware and runs great even on modest machines.

Baldur's Gate 3. A full-fledged role-playing game for four, where each player controls their own character and one player's decisions affect everyone's story. In Act 3, the city loads the CPU noticeably harder than the rest of the game, and this is one of the few places where co-op demands a good CPU.

Monster Hunter Wilds. Hunting huge monsters as a group of four, gear crafting, and open locations. One of the most demanding games in the selection: comfortable play requires an above-average graphics card and CPU.

Borderlands 4. A 2025 looter shooter with four-player co-op. A huge variety of weapons and abilities, and high graphics card requirements.

Peak. A small game about climbing a mountain together, one of the most notable co-op releases of recent months. Physics, stamina, and mutual help, with minimal hardware requirements.

Lethal Company. A horror game about collecting scrap on abandoned moons. Proximity voice chat that fades with distance turns every trip into a story. Minimal hardware load.

Grounded 2. The sequel to the survival game in which players are shrunk to the size of an insect. Building, exploration, and battles with giant insects for four players.

Satisfactory. Building huge factories on an alien planet. Co-op turns it into a shared engineering project. CPU load grows with the size of the factory, and in the late game it becomes noticeable.

Subnautica 2. The sequel to the underwater survival game, this time with co-op. Ocean exploration and building bases and vehicles for four players.

Best Games for Large Groups

R.E.P.O. A co-op horror game for up to six players: you need to carry valuables out of a house without breaking them or getting caught by monsters. Object physics creates endless absurd situations.

Stardew Valley. Farming, relationships with villagers, and mine exploration. Since update 1.6, up to eight people can play together. It runs on practically any computer.

Valheim. Survival in a world of Norse mythology for up to ten players. Building, expeditions, and bosses. The load grows with base size and the number of structures.

Palworld. Survival with catching creatures that work at your base and fight alongside you. In July 2026, the game reached version 1.0 and gained crossplay between PC and consoles.

How to Choose a Co-op Game

  • By group size. Two-player games like Split Fiction are designed around a pair, and you cannot add a third player. For a regular group of four, it is better to look straight away at games designed for four.
  • By communication style. Horror games with proximity voice chat are great for spontaneous evenings, while building games suit long-term shared projects.
  • By the hardware of the weakest participant. Co-op runs only as smoothly as the weakest machine in the group allows, especially if that machine is also the host.
  • By crossplay support. If some of your friends play on consoles, that immediately narrows the choice.

What Hardware You Need for Co-op

Most co-op games are not demanding, but there are exceptions, and it is important to know who in the group will be the host.

  • The host carries a heavier load than everyone else. It processes the game world for all participants, so in games like Valheim, Satisfactory, and Palworld, the host's CPU and RAM capacity matter.
  • Demanding games. Monster Hunter Wilds and Borderlands 4 require an RTX 4070 or RTX 5070 class graphics card for comfortable 1440p and a current-generation CPU.
  • Light games. Peak, Lethal Company, R.E.P.O., Deep Rock Galactic, and Stardew Valley will run on almost any modern PC.
  • The network matters more than FPS. For the host, a stable connection and a wired link matter more than a few extra frames. If the game does not accept your friends' connections, check the firewall rules; see our article Windows Firewall and games.

You can choose a machine for the level of games you play in the gaming PC catalog or in the configurator.
