In the fall of 2019, an unprecedented event occurred: Electronic Arts released Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - a big-budget single-player game without multiplayer or donation systems. For the entire gaming community, this was a huge surprise, as the American publisher had not released narrative blockbusters without online and microtransactions for many years.
The quality of this project was even more surprising. Many believed that Electronic Arts employees had forgotten how to make single-player games, but news of high ratings for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order demonstrated the opposite: not only journalists but also the majority of gamers were satisfied with the new game.
On the wave of positive reviews and good sales, the publisher decided to develop the next part of the franchise. The HYPERPC team presents a brief overview of the game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, in which we will also talk in detail about the system requirements of the novelty and its release date.
Game plot
From the trailers, it is clear that the game's action will unfold after the events of the previous part. The main character will still be the young Jedi Cal Kestis. Together with his team, he is looking for a safe place to hide from the Empire's persecution.
Once, Cal's ship and his companions are shot down, and he crashes on the planet Kobo. Now the heroes will have to face the soldiers of the Empire again. This time, to win, the Jedi will need to assemble a team and eliminate the threat in the person of Senator Coruscant.
Gameplay
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a third-person adventure game. As in the previous part, gamers will have to fight against enemies in close combat, using the skills of the main character and Force abilities. The main innovation compared to the previous part, Fallen Order, is a huge open world, which we will discuss in more detail below.
Open world in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
The game will start, like "The Fallen Order," with a linear mission that will lead the player to the planet Kobo. After that, a huge open world will become available. It will have many points of interest, areas with mini-bosses, as well as linear locations in the form of "Jedi training rooms." In them, the player will find special items as well as perk upgrades.
Exploring the open world in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will mainly be rewarded with chests containing customization items, which will be scattered throughout the map. The main character can be fully customized: change his jackets, pants, shoes, and not just a poncho, as in the previous part.
For fast travel around the open world, the following were added:
- hook-cat;
- riding animals;
- fast travel points.
Companions will be with the main character only during story missions. The rest of the time, Cal travels alone.
System requirements
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is being developed on the Unreal Engine. Its tools allow creating high-quality and sometimes photorealistic graphics, but this comes at the cost of high system requirements.
Unreal Engine is the main reason why the new game is not released on last-generation consoles: their computational power is simply not enough for stable project work on the engine from Epic Games.
The same goes for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on PC. The game has high system requirements, so not every build will be able to handle it.
Minimum system requirements | |

Operating system | Windows 10, 11 |

GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 |
RAM | 8 GB |
Disk Space | 130 GB |

Last year, developers announced that ray tracing would be used for global illumination in the PC version of the game. With this technology, light in the game will behave according to the laws of physics: all rays from global light sources such as the sun and moon will first refract, reflect, scatter, and only then hit the player's camera. This will create natural and realistic shadows that cannot be built with other algorithms.
The only downside to ray tracing is performance requirements. To enjoy this technology in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, especially in 4K resolution, you will need a next-level system:
Maximum system requirements | |
---|---|
Operating system | Windows 11 |
CPU | Intel Core i7-13700K |
GPU | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 |
RAM | 32 GB |
Disk Space | 130 GB SSD |
Release date
The game's release date is April 28, 2023. Initially, the novelty was planned to be released one month earlier, on March 17. The authors announced that they would spend additional time on optimization and final polishing of the game.
