GeForce RTX 4070 Ti vs RTX 4070 SUPER Graphics Card Comparison

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti vs RTX 4070 SUPER Graphics Card Comparison: image 1

Both graphics cards are built on the Ada Lovelace architecture and the AD104 chip (TSMC 4N), but they differ in age, core configuration, power consumption and price. To make the right choice, it is important to understand whether the performance gap justifies the price difference.

Graphics Card Overview

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti launched on January 5, 2023 at $799. GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER arrived on January 17, 2024 at $599 and offered noticeably better efficiency. NVIDIA effectively reshuffled the price hierarchy: with lower power draw, SUPER catches up with the older model in most gaming scenarios. Both cards support DLSS 3 with Frame Generation and ray tracing — features exclusive to the RTX 40 series.

Aggregate Performance Score

RTX 4070 Ti scores 75.49 points versus 71.65 for RTX 4070 SUPER in the aggregated benchmark database — an advantage of about 5%: +4% at 1080p, +5% at 1440p and +6% at 4K. The gap is real, but without considering price and TDP, it is not a decisive argument.

The power connectors differ: the Ti uses the 12VHPWR standard, while SUPER uses the revised 12V-2x6. The two standards are physically similar, but 12V-2x6 has improved retention and is considered the more reliable solution. It is worth noting that documented 12VHPWR melting cases mostly involved the RTX 4090, not the RTX 4070 Ti. Both chips are made on the same TSMC 4N node — NVIDIA’s “4 nm” marketing label corresponds to a 5 nm-class physical process by TSMC’s classification.

In 2026, 12 GB is barely enough: Cyberpunk 2077 with RT at 1440p uses about 12.1 GB, while Alan Wake 2 uses about 11.6 GB.

Connectivity and Outputs

The output set is identical: each card has 1× HDMI 2.1 and 3× DisplayPort 1.4a.

Passmark

RTX 4070 Ti — 31,563 points; SUPER — 29,953 (+5% for Ti).

3DMark 11 Performance GPU

The gap is about 5% in favor of Ti, helped by the higher CUDA core count: 7680 versus 7168.

3DMark Fire Strike Graphics

RTX 4070 Ti with a 2610 MHz boost is about 5% ahead of SUPER with a 2475 MHz boost.

3DMark Cloud Gate GPU / Ice Storm GPU

In both tests, the gap stays within 4–5%; neither card is a bottleneck.

Average FPS Across Games

RTX 4070 Ti shows slightly higher FPS on average, but its advantage over RTX 4070 SUPER usually remains modest.

Resolution RTX 4070 Ti RTX 4070 SUPER Difference
1080p 223 FPS 214 FPS +4.2%
1440p 140 FPS 133 FPS +5.3%

Far Cry 5 (1440p Ultra) 1% faster

Across the overall test database, Ti wins in 70% of cases, SUPER in 4%, and the result is tied in 26%.

Price-to-Performance Ratio

Performance-to-Price Chart

With a 33% launch price difference ($799 vs $599), the performance gap is only 5%. The aggregated price/performance index is 70.24 for SUPER and 54.68 for Ti, making SUPER about 28% better value.

Model Used price (May 2026) Price/performance Energy efficiency
RTX 4070 Ti 1,300–1,770 AED 54.68 20.40
RTX 4070 SUPER 1,630–2,100 AED 70.24 25.08

Notably, the older Ti is now cheaper on the used market because of its age, higher TDP and the reputation of the 12VHPWR power standard. Used-market prices change quickly, so we recommend checking current values at the time of purchase.

Graphics Card Pros and Cons

RTX 4070 Ti: 5% higher performance and more CUDA cores (7680). Cons: 285 W TDP, older 12VHPWR connector standard, higher chance of mining history on the used market, and 28% worse price/performance.

RTX 4070 SUPER: 28% better price/performance, 220 W TDP (works with a 650 W PSU), reliable 12V-2x6 connector and lower risk of mining history. Cons: 5% slower in native benchmarks and currently more expensive on the used market.

User Reviews

RTX 4070 Ti owners note confident FPS at 1440p and good ray tracing performance. Downsides include high power consumption and overheating thermal pads on some used cards. RTX 4070 SUPER buyers highlight quiet operation and a gap from Ti that is barely noticeable in real games. The Palit GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Dual is popular for its compact size and accessible price, although undervolting is recommended under sustained load.
