Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play competitive action game in the spirit of Overwatch 2. The game
was
released on December 6, 2024, and in less than a month, over 10 million gamers had played it.
Today
we will discuss the game's plot and gameplay, its monetization features, and the type of
computer
you need to achieve high FPS in Marvel Rivals.
HYPERPC Computer for Marvel Rivals – January
2025
As with any other competitive online game, in Marvel Rivals, a gamer’s performance heavily
depends on
the frame rate. Playing on a weak PC with low FPS makes it difficult to fight effectively.
Constant
freezes, lags, and frame rate drops will prevent you from defeating your opponents. Therefore,
high-performance gaming PCs are essential for online games to render high FPS smoothly.
HYPERPC computers guarantee high performance in Marvel Rivals. Compete and triumph over other
players
with HYPERPC!
Doctor Doom and his future counterpart faced off in a fierce battle, splitting the timelines
and
creating new worlds. Now superheroes and villains must constantly fight each other for
dominance in these new realities.
Marvel Rivals is a multiplayer game that doesn’t focus much on the story, but the developers
plan
to address this. Every few months, they will introduce special events and updates to reveal
the
lore of the game universe and its characters.
Gameplay Features
Marvel Rivals is a team-based hero shooter that not only borrows from Overwatch's gameplay
formula but also refreshes it with new elements.
Instead of a first-person view, the game uses a third-person perspective. This improves
visibility around the character and makes it easier to analyze battle situations. The
third-person view allows players to better evaluate what’s happening and make better
decisions
in combat.
Matches are played in a 6v6 format. Currently, there are only two main modes: “Escort” and
“Dominance.” In the first mode, players must guard a cart with cargo and defend it from the
enemy team, while in the second mode, players need to hold a specific point on the map.
There is
also an additional mode, “Conquest,” which is a battle royale where players fight
individually
without teams.
As in Overwatch, each character has unique traits and abilities. Skills are divided into
standard
and ultimate abilities. The latter are very powerful and cannot be used constantly, as they
charge gradually when players deal damage to enemies. Ultimate abilities can completely
change
the course of a battle.
In Overwatch, player interaction is limited to their skills and strategy, but Marvel Rivals
introduces team-ups. These can be passive boosts or additional skills that activate if there
are
characters in the team connected by comic book events. For example, Venom can temporarily
team
up with Spider-Man to attack enemies using the symbiote.
The game features partial destructibility: with regular attacks, players can destroy certain
walls, objects, and structures. This adds variety to gameplay. For instance, instead of
attacking opponents head-on, players can destroy part of a wall and flank their opponents by
surprise. Destroyed objects regenerate over time, so players must carefully monitor their
state
to avoid tactical errors.
The gameplay in Marvel Rivals is very similar to Overwatch, but new heroes, skills, and
mechanics
make the game more dynamic and engaging.
Monetization Features
Many gamers dislike free-to-play games due to their aggressive monetization systems, but Marvel
Rivals is a pleasant exception. Currently, in-game purchases do not affect gameplay, and
spending is limited to cosmetics such as skins, animations, graffiti, and so on.
Many developers of free games deliberately avoid aggressive monetization immediately after
release. This approach helps attract as many players as possible and achieve high ratings from
gamers and professional critics. It is possible that the creators of Marvel Rivals will change
their monetization policy in the future, making it more aggressive and gameplay-impacting. But
for now, this is not the case.
System Requirements
By modern standards, the recommended and minimum system requirements for Marvel Rivals on
Steam are not high, but the game does have technical issues: even on top-tier PC
configurations, freezes and FPS drops are possible. While the developers claim that 16GB of
RAM is sufficient for their game, our tests show that even on medium graphics settings,
Marvel Rivals uses 18-19GB of RAM. Therefore, we recommend running the game on PCs with 32GB
of RAM to reduce freezes and FPS drops.
