Task: Creating a platform for processing and simultaneous archival storage of research results
The client needed to combine "fire" (fast computing) and "ice" (reliable cold storage) in one infrastructure.
Solution: "Compute & Store" Architecture
We designed a hybrid that replaces both a computing server and a separate storage system.
1. Computing Core
Two AMD EPYC processors (256 cores) and 4 liquid-cooled graphics cards provide extreme parallelism for scientific simulations.
2. Integrated Data Lake 120 TB
The server is equipped with an array of 10 enterprise HDDs of 12 TB each, managed by a dedicated SAS controller.
Advantage: Data is processed and immediately saved to the local array without network delays. Perfect for post-processing "heavy" scientific data.
3. Reliability (HA)
The client purchased two identical servers to create a fault-tolerant cluster. Hardware errors are excluded from the equation.
