Project Description

Alexander contacted the HYPERPC service center for scheduled maintenance of two home systems. However, during the process of diagnosing one of the computers, a critical problem was identified that completely changed the direction of work.

  • Scope of activity: Gaming and resource-intensive multimedia tasks.
  • Situation: One of the PCs based on the 14th generation Intel processor exhibited unstable operation. Diagnostics confirmed crystal degradation, a typical hardware problem for this line.
  • Key requirement: Not just a “fix,” but a radical upgrade of the platform, ensuring maximum gaming performance and long-term stability without the risk of repeating past mistakes.

Updated system configuration

  • CPU:
    AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (8 cores, up to 5.2 GHz, 96MB L3 Cache) is the absolute leader in gaming disciplines.
  • Motherboard:
    MSI MPG X870E CARBON WIFI - flagship reliability and future-proofing.
  • Cooling:
    Lian Li HydroShift II LCD-S 360CL - a liquid cooler with an informative screen and impeccable design.
  • RAM:
    DDR5 6000MHz (optimized for EXPO profiles for AMD).
  • Service:
    HYPERPC Service Premium (full cleaning, replacement of thermal interfaces, BIOS setup and OS reinstallation).

Selection process and decision

Instead of simply replacing the faulty processor with a similar one, we suggested that the client switch to the “dark side” - the AMD AM5 platform. The choice fell on the latest gaming flagship Ryzen 7 9800X3D with 3D V-Cache technology, which is currently the gold standard for gamers.

Main stages of the project:

  1. Change of architecture: Switching to the X870E chipset required replacing the motherboard. We chose a premium model from MSI CARBON series, which has a powerful power subsystem and support for all modern interfaces (Wi-Fi 7, PCIe 5.0).
  2. Cooling update: The existing Lian Li life support system did not have mounts for the AM5 socket, and a separate search for them would have delayed the time frame. It was decided to install a new Lian Li HydroShift II LCD cooling system, which is not only efficient, but also has an updated display for monitoring system performance.
  3. Aesthetics and custom: The client asked to pay special attention to cable management (“do it beautifully”). We rearranged the wire routes, achieving a laconic appearance of the interior space.
  4. Trade-in: To optimize the client’s budget, old components (motherboard, faulty CPU and life support system) were accepted as offset against the cost of new ones under the Trade-In program.

Result

The client actually received a new computer based on the most current 2026 platform.

  • Stability: The problem of processor failures was solved by a radical change in architecture.
  • Performance: The increase in game scenarios was up to 40% compared to the previous bundle.
  • Visual: Neat cable management and a new control system with an LCD panel turned the system unit into a stylish element of the interior.

Additionally, a complete maintenance of the family’s second computer was carried out, which guarantees quiet and efficient operation of both devices for a long time.
