Client task
Bulat turned to HYPERPC to thoroughly modernize his workstation. The main area of PC use is working with artificial intelligence algorithms and complex calculations, where the key limitation is the amount of video memory and system bandwidth.
- Scope of activity: Development and operation of neural networks (AI), high-performance computing.
- Software used: Local language models, AI development environments, modern game projects.
- Key requirement: Increasing the amount of video memory (VRAM) up to 16 GB and RAM up to 64 GB while maintaining high system stability.
Selection process and decision
The client's configuration based on the Intel Core i7-12700K and the Z690 chipset remained relevant, so we focused on targeting bottlenecks.
Modernization logic:
- Graphics card: Memory is critical for AI tasks. We offered the latest GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. This is the “golden mean”: it has the necessary 16 GB of high-speed video memory and significantly exceeds previous generations in tensor computing, while remaining more affordable and energy efficient than the flagship 5080.
- RAM: The client was considering adding sticks to the existing 32GB. However, HYPERPC experts insisted on completely replacing the kit with 2x32 GB DDR5. Installing four sticks on a DDR5 platform often leads to lower frequencies (up to 4200–4800 MHz) and instability. We installed a paired set while maintaining high data transfer rates, which is critical for model training.
- Power supply: The existing 1000 W power supply completely covered the increased needs of the new graphics card, which allowed us to avoid unnecessary costs.
- Service: The client required minimal downtime. We organized work according to the “Fast Track” principle - acceptance in the morning, upgrades and tests, and delivery of the finished PC in the evening of the same day.
Result
The system received a “a new lease of life” and completely got rid of the limits that interfered with working with neural networks. The increased volume of VRAM made it possible to load heavier models, and 64 GB of RAM ensured comfortable multitasking.
Thanks to clear logistics and the availability of components in stock, the client received an updated tool for work in just a few hours.
