Client task
Alexander is a long-time connoisseur of powerful HYPERPC solutions. In 2020, we assembled a flagship system for it in the iconic Cosmos Concept case, equipped at that time with a top-end tandem of two NVIDIA Titan graphics cards. After 6 years of active use, the client came to us with a classic dilemma: complete PC replacement or deep modernization.
The system began to show signs of “fatigue”: unstable operation (spontaneous startups and reboots), failure of audio connectors and critical obsolescence of the SLI link from the Titans, which in modern tasks were already inferior to single cards of the new generation.
- Scope of activity: Gaming on ultra settings, working with heavy content.
- Software used: Windows 11, modern AAA games, professional applications.
- Key requirement: Transition to the current platform while maintaining the premium aesthetics of the case and complete preventive maintenance of the custom cooling system.
Selection process and decision
After analyzing the state of the PC, our experts recommended the path of a deep upgrade. This allowed the client to save the expensive chassis and part of the infrastructure, directing the budget to the “core” of the system.
- Platform change: Instead of two Titan graphics cards, which in modern realities work ineffectively due to the lack of SLI support in new games, one latest generation graphics card (RTX 50 series) was offered.
- Switching to AMD: The AMD Ryzen platform was chosen as the basis, since it currently demonstrates the best performance in gaming scenarios and offers an excellent reserve for the future.
- Cooling restoration: Over the course of 6 years, the liquid in the custom circuit formed a sediment. We carried out a complete cleaning of all water blocks, replaced the distro plate and updated the fan fleet to more modern and quieter models with increased bearing life.
- Data storage: We retained the client's 8 TB archive drive with its data, replacing only the system drive with an ultra-fast 2 TB NVMe SSD.
Result
After carrying out maintenance, replacing key components and setting up the BIOS, the computer found new life. We solved the problem with “phantom” inclusions and restored the functionality of all interfaces.
Despite minor software difficulties during the final transfer (driver conflict when switching to Windows 11), our support service promptly resolved the problems within the framework of the warranty service. The client got an ultimate gaming station in a familiar and favorite case, which is several times more powerful than the old build.
