About the Project
The client came to our showroom looking for a substantial performance upgrade for modern workloads. We had two options: build an entirely new system or give the existing flagship PC a second life.
We replaced the ageing platform with current flagship hardware while retaining the original chassis. The result delivers exceptional performance across gaming and demanding professional workloads.
Diagnostics and Efficient Use of the Budget
The “Before” photo shows the original configuration: an intricate loop filled with red coolant and a large dual-GPU SLI setup. After thoroughly testing the components, we confirmed that the Corsair Obsidian 1000D chassis, the 12TB hard drive, and the premium Corsair HX1200i power supply remained in excellent working condition.
We therefore retained these components and focused the budget on the upgrades that would deliver the greatest benefit: current-generation processing and graphics performance, a new liquid-cooling loop, and a complete visual refresh.
Aesthetics and Custom Cooling: A Complete Transformation
As the “After” photo shows, the system has been completely transformed. We removed the original liquid-cooling loop and designed a new layout with clean, precisely aligned tubing runs.
- A new signature colour. The original red coolant was replaced with a vivid neon green. Against the case’s matte-black metal and the understated motherboard lighting, it gives the system a bold, futuristic appearance.
- Optimised airflow. We installed 13 Geometric Future Squama fans to provide strong airflow through the large radiator array. Their distinctive frames and impellers also complement the system’s updated industrial design.
- A cleaner presentation. We completely reworked the cable management to create a clean, uncluttered interior. The parallel acrylic tubing and illuminated coolant reservoirs now remain the visual focus.
The Result
The finished system combines the character of the original 2020 build with current flagship performance. It can handle demanding 4K gaming and professional workloads with ease, while preserving the owner’s favourite chassis and making efficient use of the upgrade budget. This was more than a component replacement: it was a comprehensive rebuild of a distinctive custom PC.
