GeForce RTX 5060 Ti vs RTX 4060 Ti: performance and specifications

GeForce RTX 5060 Ti vs RTX 4060 Ti comparison

Every new generation of graphics cards NVIDIA raises the same question for gamers: is it worth upgrading? GeForce RTX 5060 Ti promises more FPS, support for Multi Frame Generation DLSS 4 and the improved Blackwell architecture. RTX 4060 Ti is a proven card with an affordable price. In this article, we will compare comparison both graphics cards by specifications, tests and price.

Technical specifications

Architecture and process node

RTX 4060 Ti is based on the Ada Lovelace architecture (AD106 chip) and the TSMC 4N process node, an energy-efficient platform. RTX 5060 Ti uses the Blackwell architecture (chip GB206) and a similar TSMC 4N process node, optimized for higher transistor density and better performance per watt.

Cores and compute units

RTX 4060 Ti has 4352 CUDA cores, while RTX 5060 Ti has 4608. The 4th-generation RT cores in the new generation in the new card calculate ray intersections faster (72 TFLOPS versus 45 TFLOPS). The 5th-generation Tensor Cores with FP4 support provide up to 759 TOPS for AI algorithms.

Memory and bandwidth

RTX 4060 Ti uses GDDR6 at 18 Gbps, 128-bit, 288 GB/s. RTX 5060 Ti uses GDDR7 at 28 Gbps, 128-bit, 448 GB/s. The bandwidth increase is 55.6%. The 16 GB version comfortably handles maximum textures at 1440p.

Power consumption and power connectors

RTX 5060 Ti consumes 180 W versus 160 W for RTX 4060 Ti. Both cards can be powered by a standard 8-pin connector, although premium versions of the new card are often equipped with a 12V-2x6 connector. A power supply replacement is not required for the upgrade; a 550 W unit with 80 PLUS Gold certification is enough.

Testing methodology

Tests were performed on versions with 16 GB of memory at 1080p and 1440p with maximum graphics settings. Average FPS was measured in native mode and with DLSS 4 enabled. Separate measurements covered scenarios with ray tracing.

Tests at 1080p (Full HD)

Game (1080p) RTX 4060 Ti RTX 5060 Ti
Counter-Strike 2 310 385
Cyberpunk 2077 90 105
Marvel Rivals 110 132
Hogwarts Legacy 100 120
The Last of Us Part I 75 87
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 55 63

Tests at 1440p (2K)

Game (1440p) RTX 4060 Ti RTX 5060 Ti
Counter-Strike 2 260 322
Baldur's Gate 3 82 95
Cyberpunk 2077 51 59
Spider-Man 2 60 73
Marvel Rivals 52 64

Ray tracing tests

Game (RT, 1440p) RTX 4060 Ti RTX 5060 Ti
Cyberpunk 2077 29 34
Metro Exodus Enhanced 62 75
Spider-Man 2 34 40
Hogwarts Legacy 36 43

Average gaming performance

Resolution RTX 4060 Ti RTX 5060 Ti
1080p ~91 FPS ~103 FPS
1440p ~68 FPS ~79 FPS
4K ~38 FPS ~44 FPS

RTX 5060 Ti is on average 10–15% faster in native scenarios. Its main advantage is Multi Frame Generation frames in DLSS 4: up to three generated frames between two real frames. RTX 4060 Ti is limited to one additional frame with DLSS 3, so in fast-paced games the new card delivers significantly smoother gameplay.

Synthetic benchmarks

Comparative 3DMark results show a clear advantage for RTX 5060 Ti in RT scenarios: Port Royal — ~9944 points versus ~8112, Fire Strike — ~40,925 versus ~34,295. In synthetic Geekbench 6 tests new card scores 13–14% higher thanks to Tensor Core performance and the updated architecture more points (146,234 points in OpenCL and 140,147 points in Vulkan for RTX 5060 Ti versus 129,894 and 122,535 for RTX 4060 Ti). In PassMark G3D Mark, the difference between them is minimal, less than 1%, because of older API limitations: around 22,201–22,633 points for RTX 5060 Ti versus versus around 22,610–22,632 for RTX 4060 Ti.

Temperatures, cooling and noise level

Temperatures and cooling

Both graphics card run quietly and do not overheat in a well-ventilated case; load temperatures stay within 70–75°C. Manufacturers such as MSI, ASUS, Palit produce compact dual-slot RTX 5060 Ti versions, suitable for SFF builds.

Price and availability

  • RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB — from 1,540–1,720 AED
  • RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB — from 2,330–2,560 AED
  • RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB — from 1,720 AED
  • RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB — from 1,960–2,420 AED

At a comparable price, RTX 5060 Ti is preferable thanks to GDDR7 and DLSS 4. For 1440p and work tasks, the recommended option is the 16 GB version.

Competitors from AMD and Intel

The main competitor is AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT (16 GB): comparable performance in rasterization; FSR 4 is close to DLSS in image quality, but falls behind in RT scenarios. Intel Arc B580 offers 12 GB at a lower price, but is weaker than both solutions in overall performance.

Is it worth upgrading from RTX 4060 Ti to RTX 5060 Ti?

If you already have an RTX 4060 Ti, then no: a 10–15% gain does not justify replacement. The upgrade is justified in three cases: you need Multi Frame Generation DLSS 4; your 8 GB card regularly runs out of VRAM at 1440p with RT; or you are moving from an RTX 3060 Ti or older card, where the gain will be 40–60%. In other cases, it is better to consider RTX 5070 or RTX 5070 Ti — they will provide noticeably more.

PC build: which processor to pair it with

Core i5-13400F / 14400F or Ryzen 5 7600 / 9600X are optimal for RTX 5060 Ti. At 1080p, a weak processor creates a bottleneck — FPS drops regardless of the power of the graphics card. The recommended capacity of RAM is 32 GB DDR5 6000 MHz.

If the budget is limited and your tasks do not require DLSS 4, prebuilt HYPERPC systems with RTX 4060 Ti remain a relevant option for 1080p and less demanding 1440p gaming. You will get a PC tailored to your tasks, with a stress test completed before shipping. Build a ready-made PC and start playing right after unpacking.

Pros and cons overview

Pros and cons overview of RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 4060 Ti
  • RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB — pros: GDDR7 448 GB/s; DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation; 4th-generation RT cores generation; NVENC 9 with AV1 4:2:2; 16 GB VRAM for the future.
  • RTX 4060 Ti — pros: affordable price; lower 160 W TDP; widely available on the second-hand market.
  • RTX 4060 Ti — cons: DLSS 3 with only one generated frame; 8 GB VRAM is tight at 1440p with RT; aging architecture.

Conclusion: final takeaways and recommendations

If you are building a new PC, RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB is the clear choice: stable FPS in modern games and enough VRAM headroom for the next few years. RTX 4060 Ti only makes sense in the 16 GB version at a reduced price, for work tasks with large amounts of VRAM. For RTX 4060 Ti owners, upgrading to 5060 Ti is not worthwhile; it is better to consider RTX 5070 right away.
