Story Overview
The Last of Us: Part 2 is a story-driven project where the narrative plays a crucial role. Therefore, we will avoid spoilers to let you enjoy the full experience of the game.
The story of The Last of Us: Part 2 continues from the first game. Ellie and Joel settle in Jackson, a town where Tommy, Joel’s brother, resides. They join the community and begin to live a peaceful life as much as the apocalypse allows.
One winter, Tommy and Joel leave to patrol the area but face an incident. Ellie learns about it and sets out to find the perpetrators to seek revenge.
The Last of Us: Part 2 addresses themes of love, violence, and revenge. The game’s story is highly emotional and features many heavy and brutal scenes.
Gameplay Features
The core gameplay of the second part remains similar to the first installment. The Last of Us: Part 2 is still a linear third-person shooter with cover mechanics, stealth, and survival elements. Players must search for supplies and parts scattered across locations to craft weapon upgrades and consumables like medkits and grenades.
The gameplay changes in the second part are minor but significantly enhance the experience. The protagonist can now crawl and shoot while lying down, hiding in tall grass or under vehicles. She also learned to swim and climb better, allowing her to scale higher obstacles and ledges.
New types of infected enemies explode and deal damage with their fumes. Melee combat now includes dodging, making fights more intense. Additionally, dogs were introduced in human combat scenarios, complicating stealth and forcing players to constantly move and change cover.
These changes make the gameplay of the second part more dynamic, intense, and engaging. Coupled with excellent animations and highly intelligent AI (by modern industry standards), the sequel feels even more realistic, cinematic, and captivating.
Differences Between the Regular and Remastered Versions
The word "remaster" in the game's title implies significant graphical changes, but in the case of The Last of Us: Part 2, this is not entirely accurate. The enhanced sequel version does feature slightly improved textures, vegetation density, and draw distance compared to the original, but these changes are barely noticeable and only evident when directly compared to the regular version of the game.
The most significant changes in the remaster pertain to gameplay. The developers added new game modes, graphical settings, difficulty levels, and previously removed levels with commentary that were cut during development. These additions further enrich the main storyline and complement it. There are no other notable differences.
System Requirements
The developers have not yet provided the official system requirements for The Last of Us: Part II, but based on the first game's experience, they are unlikely to be low. As the release date approaches, the developers will surely announce the minimum and recommended PC configurations.
