Detroit: Become Human is an adventure action game with cinematic inserts set in a science fiction world. It was developed by the French company Quantic Dream, with the release taking place in 2018 for PS4, and in 2019 it was released for PC.
From a commercial perspective, the studio is not the largest, mainly focusing on creating quest games with complex, intricate stories and many possible outcomes. David Cage, the head and founder of the company, practically invented the interactive cinema genre. Quantic Dream has specialized in these types of games and has built a small, yet dedicated fanbase around itself.
The most popular game at the moment is Detroit: Become Human, while previously it was Fahrenheit, released in 2005, which also received numerous positive reviews.

Story Game
The year is 2038. The American company Cyberlife and its foreign competitors are mass-producing humanoid android robots that handle many unpleasant tasks for humans – from household chores to complex technical jobs. Robots have replaced humans wherever possible, leading to a high unemployment rate. This has created a depressing atmosphere and a significant social divide.
These troubles are compounded by natural disasters that are happening more and more frequently. The sea level has risen, forcing people to move out of coastal areas. And, of course, there’s the military conflict. America and Russia are vying for control over the Arctic, with constant active confrontation in a heated phase.
You will be responsible for the fates of three androids: Kara, Markus, and Connor:
- Kara – a household android, or simply a maid model AX-400. She serves Todd Williams, a despotic drug addict who raises his young daughter Alice on his own. The story begins when the android can no longer tolerate the abuse of the child and intervenes in the most radical way.
- Markus – a caretaker robot who takes care of an elderly disabled artist. After meeting a criminal, his program malfunctions and the restrictions that worked before are disabled. He becomes a deviant android, shot by a police officer, and ends up in a junkyard.
- Connor – a detective, or rather, a detective assistant. This android investigator was developed by Cyberlife to assist police officer Hank Anderson, a staunch android-hater who despises everything related to them.
The central theme throughout the plot is the desire for freedom and the pursuit of justice. This is the most variable game from the company, offering numerous possible plot developments, which will change drastically.
Gameplay
To make it easier to navigate all the branches, the game features a story development path that helps you track how things are progressing. This will also make it easier for you to choose the right option during a replay. It takes into account all the small details of your choices, including your relationships with the characters. This means you can influence key events through your behavior and the side you choose.
We are offered to do all this by interacting with objects, characters, and vehicles. Each of the three androids has its own role to play, and the differences in gameplay mechanics are quite significant. For example, police officer Connor will most often model situations that happened at crime scenes. Markus, on the other hand, calculates optimal movements when attacking enemies and movements that will be carried out in the next second.
Graphics
The modern, sometimes photorealistic visuals are quite well optimized but require a lot of video memory. However, the custom engine of Detroit: Become Human has reduced the required computer specifications compared to if the developers had used Unreal Engine or Unity.
How to Choose a Computer for Detroit: Become Human
Choosing a gaming computer always starts with the graphics card, as it is the main component responsible for rendering 3D graphics. The selection of the right model should begin with determining the budget, as the graphics card accounts for 30-50% of the total price of the system unit. The simpler the computer, the more the graphics card makes up the price; in the most expensive solutions, less money is allocated to it in percentage terms.
The processor should be chosen second, as there aren’t many options. Games don’t need as much processor power as other programs, but a 6-8-core processor with Hyperthreading is still needed in a gaming PC for 2020.
Memory and storage are a matter of preference, but it’s always better to opt for higher speeds and ample capacity, as this improves system performance and increases FPS in games, especially when it comes to RAM frequency. A good SSD will load games faster, handle save file loads, and provide instant transitions between locations.
Graphics Card
System requirements of Detroit: Become Human, like any other game, are not always objective. Developers underestimate the required power of hardware so that more people pay attention to their product. An objective indicator of card performance is a test in a particular game. In any case, the latest generation of cards from NVIDIA is capable of maximum settings.
Processor
The system requirements for Detroit: Become Human are not too strict, and you can use even older, weaker processor models. The recommended model, Intel Core i5-6600, was released in 2015. However, processor performance depends on various factors, including architecture. More modern architectures perform better than older ones, even with the same number of cores, frequency, cache size, etc. It’s better to build a modern gaming PC on a newer processor model.
- A good option for a basic or optimal build is the Intel Core i5-10600K. 6 cores and 12 threads, providing excellent performance for any game at FullHD and 2K resolution. If you just plan to game and blogging is not your focus, this processor will definitely satisfy you.
- Intel Core i7-10700K – a model for streamers, bloggers, VR gaming, etc. 8 cores and 16 threads will handle video encoding at the highest bit rate at 2K resolution while streaming, all while running a demanding game.
- If you want to forget about any system requirements for Detroit: Become Human or any other game that will be released in the next 5-7 years, you need an Intel Core i9. These are server-level processors, but they are designed for desktop sockets, allowing them to be used in gaming motherboards with a full set of gaming features. Using server motherboards has some limitations, including high prices, a different form factor, etc.
System Requirements
The limited flexibility of settings implies just one texture set. They are good, but the company didn’t have the resources to create a separate version for 4K. The required memory does not change between minimum and maximum settings – 3GB, but tests show that the game uses up to 4.3 GB of video memory at 2K resolution with maximum settings.
Graphics settings only affect anti-aliasing, draw distance, and shadows. Textures, models, and environments remain unchanged on both minimum and maximum settings. Overall, it can be said that the system requirements for Detroit: Become Human are not too high and are accessible to modern entry-level computers.
