Storyline in inZOI

The world of the game is ruled by cats, who act as deities, and the characters' task is to accumulate as many karma points as possible for the afterlife. There is no conventional storyline like in other games. The gameplay is based on simulating human life.

The game starts with character creation, where you can choose the appearance and personality traits of the main character. You can play as a single character or create a full family. Then, you need to create a house or settle into a ready-built lot, just like in The Sims. Based on this, the gameplay will unfold. You can focus on the development of the characters, their personal relationships, or their professional career. In inZOI, players create a full story for the characters, shaping their future and managing the world as they wish.

Differences between inZOI and The Sims

inZOI mainly offers the same things as The Sims:

• Character creation;
• House building;
• Household management;
• Relationship development.

However, the new game uses completely different systems and technologies, which make the gameplay feel different.

• Graphics and Animations. The game is built on the Unreal Engine 5 and uses all modern technologies: physically accurate global lighting, high world detail, realistic character animations, and facial expressions. The city looks like a real metropolis with many NPCs.
• Detailed character editor. inZOI offers extensive customization options for characters. You can adjust not only their appearance but also their personality traits, habits, and even favorite phrases. The game also features an AI engine that changes the characters’ behavior based on the chosen parameters.
• Huge open world without loading screens. Unlike The Sims, inZOI has no loading screens between districts. You can freely move around the city, visit cafes, participate in street events, change the time of day, and even control the weather.
• Professions and random events. The game offers dozens of career paths: from barista to IT specialist, from police officer to TV host. Each profession includes unique mini-games, social dilemmas, and interesting dialogues.

The release of inZOI was only in early access. The game is still unfinished, with technical issues such as bugs and crashes. The developers also haven’t had time to implement all their gameplay ideas. For example, character relationships are rather linear and lack the same variability as in The Sims. The same applies to random events. Although the game has a large open world, it feels somewhat empty because it is poorly filled with content and interesting events.

The developers will gradually improve the game and add new mechanics. There is no official release date yet. However, given the great interest in the project and strong sales of early versions, inZOI will likely outcompete The Sims in the future.
