Extreme PC upgrade: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 and custom liquid cooling
Client task
We were contacted by a client specializing in complex 3D animation, physics simulation and content creation in Unreal Engine 5. The client had two powerful workstations in gigantic Lian Li V3000 PLUS cases, built on the Intel platform (Core Ultra 9 285K + MSI MEG Z890 GODLIKE).
- Scope of activity: High-end 3D modeling, heavy simulation (Houdini), rendering and development.
- Software used: Unreal Engine 5, SideFX Houdini, Blender, Adobe After Effects.
Key requirement: A radical increase in performance in tasks that depend on the amount of processor cache memory (particle simulations, shader compilation), while maintaining absolute system silence under 100% load 24/7. A complete maintenance and visual update of the existing liquid cooling system (LCS) was also required.

The upgrade and platform change were carried out symmetrically for two workstations.

Selection process and decision
After analyzing the client's highly specialized workflows, we came to the conclusion that the current platform did not reveal the studio's potential. It was decided to completely change the platform and undergo a deep upgrade.
To solve cache-critical problems, we organized the supply first in Russia AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 processors.
Huge volume of latest generation 3D V-Cache - this is exactly what speeds up the calculation of physics and the work in the viewport of heavy scenes many times over. The foundation for the new chips is the flagship ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X870E EXTREME motherboards, which provide uncompromising power.
Particular attention was paid to cooling in the project. Since we were replacing the platform, it required the installation of new processor water blocks and full maintenance of the custom liquid cooling loop. We removed the old line, installed new routes using rigid acrylic tubing, and thoroughly cleaned the system. The final touch was the filling of fresh premium EK-CryoFuel coolant in deep pink color (Pink). Combined with painstaking cable management (individual routing of each wire), the updated liquid cooling loop breathed new life into the austere Lian Li V3000 case.
Result
A global upgrade and platform change allowed the client to achieve a previously unattainable level of performance. Switching to the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 radically reduced rendering and simulation times.
In addition to the processing power, we completely restored and updated the aesthetics of the workstations. Proper maintenance of the liquid cooling system, new acrylic lines and pink coolant provided ideal temperatures for the new processors. The client got stable, quiet and visually flawless machines, ready for continuous 3D production at the highest speeds.
